A short reflections on the Day with industrial partners at the Faculty of Informatics MU, Spring 2024

Do you know SPP Day? Those who managed to come to the Faculty of Informatics of Masaryk University (FI MU) on Thursday, 25 April 2024, already know. The Day with Industrial Partners (SPP Day) presented the possibilities and course of cooperation between FI MU, companies and students. This time, 26 companies from the Association of Industrial Partners (SPP) and the National Cyber and Information Security Agency (NÚKIB) took part in the programme.

At the beginning, Barbora Bühnová, Vice-dean for external relations and cooperation with partners FI MU, presented the programme of the whole day and presented certificates to the finalists of the 13th year of the Competition for talented FI students 2024.

The first session on "My project - together to success", moderated by Martin Macák, featured presentations by students from FI and representatives from Lexical Computing and Y Soft. They informed the attendees about how successful final theses are created and how cooperation on projects of our corporate partners takes place. Tips on how to win the Dean's Award for the final thesis were also given. A short break was followed by a session moderated by Hana Rudová, in which the companies themselves attracted interested parties to their stand. These were then opened in the FI entrance hall and in building D. The students were also welcomed by representatives of the Doctoral studies at FI MU and NÚKIB. The afternoon was followed by a panel discussion entitled "When I grow up, I will be...". It showed the variety of job positions for IT graduates and also that IT is far from being just programming. In this session, moderated by Barbora Bühnová, the experiences of Red Hat Czech, InQool, SAP and Y Soft were presented. Under the moderator Radek Ošlejšek, the second part of the companies followed with their presentations and invitations to their stands. The whole programme was closed by the afternoon stands of the SPP companies.
